Price range per patch for small drywall holes in Orleans?

A small drywall hole runs about $150 to $600 per patch in published Toronto and Ontario contractor prices. These are published prices read October 1, 2026, not Ottawa prices. Larger holes cost more, and we found no range for them that two sources agree on.

What moves a patch price within that range: the number of patches, the size of each hole, the ceiling height, whether texture matching is needed, and whether primer and paint are included or quoted separately.

Ask the quote to state the finish level by number. The Gypsum Association's GA-214 guide describes six finish levels as an industry recommendation, not a Building Code requirement. Level 4 is what the guide lists for flat paint; Level 5 adds a thin skim coat over the entire surface and is what the guide lists for gloss, sheen or dark paints. If the walls have a texture, ask specifically how the contractor plans to match it, and whether that is included in the quoted price.

A quote for small patches should say how many patches it covers, how larger holes are backed, how many coats of compound go on, whether sanding is included, and whether the patches are left ready for paint or painted. On permits, the City's lists do not name patching; if the patches are part of bigger work, ask the City's Building Code Services.

Before work starts, have the scope, the price, the finish level, whether paint and primer are included, and the start and completion dates in a written contract you have received a copy of.
