Is texture matching extra on a ceiling patch quote in Alta Vista?

Texture matching may or may not be in a ceiling patch price; the quote has to say which. We found only one published figure for texture matching, so no range is given here.

What changes the scope: the size of the patch, whether the existing ceiling is smooth or textured, the finish level wanted on the repaired area, and whether primer and paint are included or left to you.

When you compare quotes, ask each one to spell out in writing what is and is not included. Useful things to confirm:

• whether texture matching is a separate line or part of the patch price
• how the contractor plans to blend the patch with the surrounding ceiling
• whether primer and paint are included or quoted separately
• whether sanding between coats is part of the scope

On permits, the City's lists do not name ceiling patching; if the patch is part of bigger work, ask the City's Building Code Services.

Name the finish level you want on the repaired area in the quote so there is no disagreement about what "done" looks like.

For the patch itself, published Toronto and Ontario contractor prices put a small patch at about $150 to $600 per patch, read October 1, 2026; these are not Ottawa prices. Ask whether the blending is inside that figure or a separate line. A larger ceiling repair has no published range.

Before you choose, ask each contractor to show you how they will blend the patch, and to put that in the quote.
